WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement in response to President Obama’s State of the Union Address:

“Once again, the President’s State of the Union Address was more ceremony than solution. The President outlined several divisive policies that aren’t supported by a majority of Americans and won’t be passed by the Republican Majority. Americans who remain worried about the economy can feel confident that the President’s irresponsible tax and spend proposals will never see daylight in this Congress.

“He also missed an important opportunity to inform Obamacare enrollees about the impact of the King v. Burwell case pending before the Supreme Court. If the Court rules against the Administration, millions of Americans may soon lose their healthcare subsidies because of the way Democrats wrote the healthcare law. After forcing Obamacare upon the American people, the President has a responsibility to help people who are being hurt by this law.

“While his speech was divisive, the reality is that we are going to have to work together, solve problems and govern. Republicans will continue to pass bills that grow our economy, develop more American energy, make healthcare more affordable and protect our nation.”
