WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement in response to the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) releasing its final guidance on considering climate change in environmental reviews under the National Environmental Policy Act.

“The president’s unilateral decision will needlessly and cynically block planned construction projects of all kinds across the country.

“Before federal agencies are able to permit or fund the next highway, bridge, pipeline, rail or port project, they will now be required to engage in rank speculation about how a specific project will affect the world’s climate. With this new power, there would be no limit to the number of projects, no matter how needed, that opponents will be able to shut down in the name of climate change.”
