Senator John Barrasso stood firm in the Senate and voted against supporting the $827 billion economic stimulus package. The 61 to 37 procedural vote puts the massive spending bill on the verge of becoming law.
"I voted no. This is a spending bill, not a stimulus bill," Barrasso said after the vote. “I was in Wyoming this past weekend. Folks told me time and time again, they want value for their hard earned tax dollars.”
“We should first fix the Housing problem. There needs to be jobs created now with targeted tax relief. It is simple Wyoming based common sense. Do not spend money on wasteful programs that do not create immediate jobs and growth. We need stimulus now, not in two or three years.”
Another 60-vote majority would be needed Tuesday for Senate passage.
