WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement regarding the announcement of a new trade agreement among the United States, Mexico and Canada.

“Since day one, President Trump and his trade team have promised to level the playing field for American families, workers, and businesses. The president’s announcement of a new, modernized trade agreement with Canada and Mexico represents a major step toward fulfilling that promise.

“While the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) played an important role in strengthening all three economies, it’s been nearly a quarter century since the original NAFTA was signed. A new approach to North American trade was long overdue.

“There is still a great deal of work to be done before this agreement is implemented. In the coming weeks, I look forward to analyzing the pact in detail to assess its impact on Wyoming workers and families.”
