WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement after the Senate passed a funding bill to reopen the federal government and extend the Children’s Health Insurance Program for six years.
“Senate Democrats finally realized that their pointless shutdown failed to do anything but inflict unnecessary pain on the American people. Voting to reopen the government was the right thing to do.
“The bill also extended the Children’s Health Insurance Program for six years. This will provide certainty for Wyoming families who rely on it for health care. As a doctor, I know how valuable this program is for more than 7,000 children in Wyoming. Now we can get back to focusing on properly funding our military, spending caps and finding a solution for immigration.”
