WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) delivered the following statement regarding the death of former U.S. Senator Malcolm Wallop (R-Wyo.):
“Today, Wyoming and America lost an extraordinary man. U.S. Senator Malcolm Wallop was a dedicated public servant and a great legislator.
“He leaves a proud legacy of a Wyoming Senator who solved problems and initiated great solutions. He set a high bar for public service and all of Wyoming is grateful.
“Whether he was serving in the Army, the Wyoming Legislature or in the United States Senate, Malcolm always stood for freedom. For decades, he worked to strengthen America’s national security and protect states’ rights. His commonsense and commitment helped break down Washington’s barriers to American energy development. Our nation continues to benefit from his leadership today.
“There will be much more to say about Malcolm in these coming days and weeks as we seek to honor his legacy.
“I will miss Malcolm’s friendship and support. Bobbi and I send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends throughout this great nation. We will continue to keep the entire Wallop family in our thoughts and prayers.”
