Barrasso, Whitehouse Bipartisan National Hospital Week Resolution Passes U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) praised the U.S. Senate for unanimously passing their resolution to designate May 11 through 17, 2025 as National Hospital Week. The resolution honors the significant role hospitals and hospital staff play in providing health care to patients across the United States.

“During National Hospital Week, we honor the dedication and service of our nation’s hospital workers,” said Senator Barrasso. “Doctors, nurses, and support staff deliver critical care and comfort to patients when it matters most. In Wyoming and in rural communities across the country, we rely on these professionals every day, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to keeping us healthy.”

“This National Hospital Week, we’re celebrating our nation’s hardworking hospital workers, who deliver heroic care and change lives every day,” said Senator Whitehouse. “I’m continuing to fight on behalf of doctors, nurses, and staff in Rhode Island hospitals and push for a health care system that works better for all Americans.”

“Hospitals are the cornerstone of every Wyoming community, providing essential care close to home,” said Irene Richardson, Chair of the Wyoming Hospital Association and CEO of Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. “At Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, our dedicated staff works every day to meet the unique needs of those we serve—a commitment shared by hospitals across our state. We are grateful to Senator Barrasso and his Senate colleagues for recognizing the critical role that hospitals and healthcare workers play in safeguarding the health and well-being of our communities.”

“The AHA thanks Senators John Barrasso and Sheldon Whitehouse for sponsoring this resolution in support of National Hospital Week,” said Lisa Kidder Hrobsky, senior vice president of federal relations, advocacy, and political affairs at the American Hospital Association. “We appreciate their recognition of the critical role that hospitals, health systems and caregivers play in providing high-quality patient care and advancing health in communities all across America.”

The resolution is cosponsored by Senators Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Angus King (I-Maine), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.).
