WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator
John Barrasso
, R-Wyo., visited with
University
of
Wyoming Cowgirls
basketball coach Joe Legerski immediately after his departure from
Afghanistan.
“Every Wyoming soldier I met with in
Afghanistan
talked about the Cowgirl basketball team,” Barrasso said. “We are all so proud of what they have accomplished this year. Their hard work and dedication led to the one of the most successful seasons in the history of the program. I know they will continue to make us all very proud.”
During their conversation, Legerski asked Barrasso to thank
U.S.
troops for their service on behalf of the team.
The Wyoming Cowgirls finished the season with a 24-6 record, and were selected to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
