WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, issued the following statement on the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s (OCC) release of a proposed rule to ensure fair access to bank services, capital, and credit.

“The radical left wants to impose purity tests on bank lending to legal, constitutional activities that employ our friends and neighbors. That’s wrong, and that’s un-American. We’ve seen these dangerous abuses in Operation Chokepoint. The action that the OCC is taking today will guarantee fair access to capital for all American industries.

“OCC’s action will put a stop to left-wing abuses of power and discrimination against lawful businesses. It’s a timely reminder that the Second Amendment is a foundational American right. It’s a recognition that Wyoming energy continues to provide affordable, reliable power to our homes. I applaud Acting Comptroller Brooks for his principled stand for American values.”
