WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, issued the following statement after the April 2022 Consumer Price Index (CPI) numbers showed inflation rose 8.3% year-over-year.

“Wyoming families are falling behind because of the surging inflation that is now a hallmark of the Biden economy. Today’s inflation report is further proof the Democrats’ economic policies have failed.

“The price of everything from gas and groceries to utilities and rent remains at a 40-year high, eroding the power of paychecks for workers across the country. Wage gains are erased by how quickly costs are rising. People are feeling poorer because their dollars simply don’t go as far anymore.

“The president had a chance to present a serious plan to actually tackle soaring prices. Instead, he continues to play the blame game and doubles down on reckless spending and higher taxes. Democrats’ woke policies are leaving American families feeling broke.”
