Third-highest leadership position in Senate will provide additional opportunities to advance Wyoming’s interests

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement after he was elected to serve as chairman of the Republican Conference, the No. 3 leadership position for Senate Republicans.

“It’s an honor to be elected chairman of the Senate Republican Conference. People in Wyoming want to know that their thoughts, ideas and concerns are being heard in Washington. This leadership position will give our congressional delegation even more opportunities to advance Wyoming’s interests on a national stage.

“As chairman, I’ll continue to work on issues that are important to the people of Wyoming including: quality jobs, affordable healthcare, lower energy costs and a safe and secure nation. We will continue to confirm federal judges who will apply the law, not legislate from the bench.

“I’m grateful for this new role and look forward to working with the Conference and the administration on solutions to the challenges facing Wyoming and the West.”
