CASPER, WY – U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) released the following statement on today’s reports of terrorist bombings in Kabul, Afghanistan.

“Today we heard tragic reports of devastating terrorist bombings in Kabul, Afghanistan. American families are receiving the heartbreaking news that their loved ones have been killed serving our country.

“Bobbi and I send them our deepest condolences. The people of Wyoming join me in praying for the safety of our forces, and American civilians, currently in Afghanistan.

“The evacuation of those who were injured, and all the Americans and our Afghan allies who remain in harm’s way, must be our top priority. The administration must bring them home safely. Our military leadership should be immediately empowered to secure the situation on the ground and to complete their mission, without regard to deadlines imposed by the Taliban.

“We have a duty to our men and women in uniform, and an obligation to all Americans in Afghanistan. President Biden is failing at a crucial moment. The terrorists must hear this message now, loud and clear: There is no timeline on protecting an American life.”
