WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, issued the following statement after the February 2022 Consumer Price Index (CPI) numbers showed inflation rose 7.9 percent year-over-year.

“A 7.9 percent inflation rate hasn’t been seen in 40 years. It’s clear the policies President Biden has enacted are failing Americans. Families across the country are seeing the impact as skyrocketing inflation eats away at their paychecks each month. People feel the pain from the gas pump to the grocery store.

“We are paying the price for runaway Democrat spending and Joe Biden’s war on American energy. The only solution is to reverse course. The president must stop his runaway government spending, open the economy, and unleash American energy.”
